I was a single mom with 3 kids. I was hesitant at first to try meeting someone online. But after some friends giving me a push, I decided to give it 1 more try. I met someone I had talked to for almost a month out at dinner 1 night. I brought another couple with us for our first meeting, just to play it safe. My story ends with being married to a great guy, who is not only great to me,but with my children as well. He treats them as if they were his own, and they love him very much, as do I. He is a very special person, and I am glad that I took the step and tried the online dating route. I would highly recommend it, especially because how busy life gets at times, it allows you the time to really get to know someone through conversation before meeting them. It allows you the time to get to know if that person really may be right for you. I would also recommend it because you may be surprised what is really out there, as I was, when you have such a great opportunity and resource to really find out about a person first before jumping in.
I went to dinner at a pizza place with a friend & a large group of her pals. A waitress accidentally switched my card with a guy at the 10 person table. He spent $ on my card, was so embarrassed he tried to pay me back by paying for lunch. We got engaged in Italy 3 months later. Eloped 3 months after that. Married 6 years- all thanks to the overwhelmed wait staff at Dewey’s Pizza.
I went out with someone (only once) who told me over lunch he was Moses in a past life. Hmmmmm. The joke to my friends all week was that I had to cut lunch short because he had to go part the Red Sea.
How about a blind date with an insurance salesman who tried to sell the tow truck driver life insurance after I got rear-ended at a stop sign?
After convincing the guy to take his business card - he then proceeded to the restaurant without me (he was in his own car) and was on main course when I finally arrived - I was 19 years old at the time. Yep, you guessed it - no more dates for him!
Well, you asked for a story so here’s one! I was around 18 at the time and trying to start love for the first time. I had a huge crush on a co-worker for about a year, and I finally made it noticable. So out of pressure from friends, he took me on a date. Little did I know that he had a huge crush on me as well. Our first date was at Steak n Shake. Yeah, that’s right. Romantic, no? Anyway, he was so shy that he barely talked the whole time. I tried to keep the conversation going, and it kept leading back to talking about work and bolts. Yeah, that’s right. Bolts. He sure knew what he was talking about when it came to bolts, nails, and screws. So after the date was over we went home, and he barely spoke to me for the next 2 weeks. I was really upset because I liked him and I felt like he had a horrible time, etc. After those two weeks of barely talking he sat down with me at work and apologized for his behavior and asked me out on another date. He got braver and the dating turned into a short, cute little relationship that ended within 2 months. It just turned out that we wanted different things at that point and went our separate ways. But, I guess my point is that even the worst first dates can lead somewhere…for a little while at least.
